About Alison
My training is in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy (post-graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Strathclyde University) and you can read more about that type of therapeutic work here. I do, however, have a broad knowledge of other types of counselling and psychotherapy, and draw on that knowledge when useful to clients.
My counselling approach is to be attentive, responsive and attuned to the way you want to work.
I am a qualified Counselling Supervisor, having trained with Jenny Biancardi (Newcastle).
As well as experience working with depression and anxiety, I have done long-term work with client issues such as bereavement, gender, suicide and disability. I continue to develop my skills, attending training events throughout the year.
As well as running my own practice from a private, self-contained room in south-west Edinburgh, I work part-time in education as a COSCA counselling skills trainer. If you are interested in COSCA Certificate training, have a look at Flourish Counselling Training.
In addition to my counselling and psychotherapy qualifications, I am a trained teacher (ESOL, secondary & F.E.) and was a co-founder of a decluttering service, Guddlebusters.
A member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and COSCA, I adhere rigorously to their Ethical Frameworks.
