About Alison

I have spent the last five years developing professional listening skills and have recently completed the post-graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Strathclyde University. My training is in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy and you can read more about that type of therapeutic work here. I do, however, have a broad knowledge of other types of counselling and psychotherapy, and draw on that knowledge when useful to clients.

A member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, I adhere rigorously to their Ethical Framework and am working towards BACP Accredited status.

As well as experience working with depression and anxiety, I have done long-term work with client issues such as bereavement, gender, suicide and disability. I continue to develop my skills, attending training events every few months.

As well as running my own private practice, I work as a volunteer counsellor at the PF Counselling Service in Edinburgh.

I am also a trained teacher (secondary & F.E.). I continue to work part-time in education, and am also a co-founder of a decluttering service, Guddlebusters.

I work from two locations:

  • A private, self-contained room in south-west Edinburgh
  • A similar space in the Meadowbank area of the city
